Biography
I grew up listening to music and was born on December 8th, 1980, the same day that John Lennon was shot.
My parents say when I was little and crying if a Beatles song came on the radio, I would stop crying.
Maybe it is just folklore, but if I did do that, if would explain a lot about me and what I am doing here.
My history, like many youngsters, I started playing piano at an early age. The instrument is beautiful but my piano teachers soul was not, so I stopped. While on a mission for a lost love with beautiful curves and melodious songs, I found the guitar. Man! Guitars are beautiful. It has been a great teacher to me over the years. Not only about music and I IV's and V's(don't worry if you have no idea) but about life, joy, pain and strife.
I respect all musicians, but especially guitarists. You are playing with an instrument that has NO LOGICAL EXPLANATION and it is hard and awkward to play! Most of all, it is here for listening enjoyment. Yes, it may feel cool to play a fast riff in time, but who really cares unless you influence others with it? Who has ears? People in bars and cars or your bedroom wall?
I want my music to spread this planet like a sick virus. In a good way. My music may not be everyone's cup of java, but I also want to prove that it is possible through MonkFunk.com that musicians and artists be heard and seen around the globe without paying people huge amounts of money or selling out.
Back to my music. Much of what you will hear here was done before I learned anything about the fundementals of music and melodic and harmonic relationships. Many of the recordings here are before any sort of musical training was in place. Just nature and it's beautiful dissonances.
Keep close by and stay in contact. For now the bountiful music that was chained within my soul, may soon have wings and fly into your ears, which maybe will touch your soul...
